  • Three Vodkas Made in Philadelphia

In light of the boycotts and restrictions on some foreign-made goods here are three vodkas made in Philadelphia, PA.

    Charles Jacquins et Cie

    2633 Trenton Ave Philadelphia, PA 19125 (215) 425-9300

Charles Jacquins et Cie is America’s oldest producer of cordials. They also have a recipe for a DE River Water, 2 parts Vodka Royals over ice with a lemon.

    Stateside Urbancraft Vodka

    1700 N Hancock Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122 (215) 425-4200

Over at Stateside Vodka they say they are focused on one thing – making Vodka. They have a bar and give tours of their facility in Kensington on Saturdays.

    New Liberty Distillery

    1431 Cadwallader Street Philadelphia, 19122, US (267) 928-4650

I do not drink enough to know what rye vodka is, so I will leave that to New Liberty Distillery and their Powderhorn Rye Vodka.

  • Lucem Tenebris

    You harbinger of light
bring unto us a new day

    each cell a divine creation
    from beginning to end

    that the maker of all
    may be displayed.

    Each one of us
    deep within

    manifested through light
    in the dark

    with intention, with purpose
    that may be

    displayed in us.
    A reminder that

    we have all been made
    with the same light.

  • Stop Assault Voyeurism

Recently in Philadelphia a woman was raped on public transportation as people watched and filmed until SEPTA  police stopped the assault at the final stop on the train. A few years ago I wrote this piece for WHYY News on the importance of intervention.

One incident I recount is when a complete stranger saved me from being attacked as I ran from a man chasing me on Callowhill street. I still don’t know her name. She likely saved my life.

“In a world where we are all accountable for each other, in a world where we find no pleasure in the victimization of others, we are less likely to be victim to one another.”

    Stop Assault Voyeurism

Victims hurt twice over by people who watch an assault rather than stop it

  • Surviving and Healing Event with Transitions of PA October 28

Looking forward to this program for Domestic Violence Awareness Month with Transitions of PA.

Please join us to discuss how writing poetry can help healing and be a support for survivors. If you have survived abuses, are currently in an abusive situation, or know a person dealing with domestic abuse of any kind this event may be very helpful.

As always:: If you know anyone in need of assistance due to domestic violence feel free to let them know they can reach out. I never discuss this publicly, so please direct message and I will answer as soon as possible.

While it is focused on survivors, this event is public and FREE to attend. Visit www.transitionsofpa.org for more information.
