Next Free Sewing Workshop at Kensington Neighborhood Library is Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 4 – 5:45 pm.

Hi! I’m Aja, from Mending with Aja. When I am not writing, I teach sewing workshops.

Want to learn how to make a bag? Want to sew a bikini for summer that is a perfect fit your body? Want to fix some shirts? Want to turn an old pair of jeans into a skirt? Make an apron to cook in? We can do it all.

I focus on sustainable materials, upcycling, encouragement, curiosity, and patience based on hands on learning. Sewing and mending is more than keeping clothes well and looking your best. It is also a small way to make a big impact for a better environment through repurposing clothes and fabrics instead of throwing them away.

Free Workshops happen for all skill levels once a month at Kensington Neighborhood Library. Updated dates are always posted here as they are available.

Need a more in depth experience? Reasonable prices, groups welcome, option to bring your own materials. I can come out to your location or events as well. Get offline and learn a new skill, or get back into a sewing habit. All levels and abilities welcome.

Rates start at $25 per person per hour plus materials. Reach out below and let’s get together to make some fun stuff.
